Clear Creek - Whitewater Rafting with Mad Adventures

Clear Creek, west of Denver, provides a fun and challenging whitewater experience. The river traverses past Ponderosa Pine, Juniper and Douglas Fir trees before tumbling through the old mining town of Idaho Springs. Wildlife such as river otter and big horn sheep can be observed along the way. The occasional bear may also appear. The sections we raft are just a little over 30 minutes drive from Denver, 45 minutes from Winter Park, and 1-1/4 hours from Boulder. The river is run in paddle-powered rafts where you grab a paddle and, under the direction of a guide, help maneuver the boat through rapids.

Clear Creek Half-Day Adventure
This trip is action-packed! The current is swift and tricky as the river drops though the narrow riverbed. You will encounger frequent rapids so be prepared for excitement. The intensity of the rapids on this half-day adventure is intermediate to advanced in difficulty (i.e., Class III and Class IV rapids). Come ready for frequent paddling, teamwork and getting wet. We offer a morning trip, an afternoon trip and a "sneak out of the office early" late afternoon trip.

The minimum age for rafters on this adventure is 13 years.

What to Bring

Quick drying clothes such as shorts, swimsuit and T-shirt, rain gear, sweater, or jacket, change of clothes, tennis shoes, hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses. A dry bag is available for cameras. Cash is handy for souvenirs and refreshments. Splash jackets, wetsuits, and booties rentals are available.
